Top activities to boost your F1 weekend in Great Britain
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone is all about full-throttle racing, but the weekend has so much more in store. Think lush English countryside, vibrant nightlife in Birmingham, historic villages, and immersive fan zones. It’s the perfect mix of motorsport, British charm, and festival vibes – making F1 British Grand Prix tickets a top pick for motorsport fans.
Festival atmosphere & race day buzz
Away from the track, the Silverstone Fan Zone is packed with entertainment: high-tech simulators, LEGO attractions, live shows, and plenty of hype before lights out. And when home heroes like Hamilton, Norris, and Russell are racing, the crowd energy is through the roof.
Silverstone also brings the music! After the race, top acts take over the stage and turn the circuit into a full-on festival zone. The F1 Silverstone 2026 music line-up hasn’t been announced yet, but trust us – it'll be worth it.
Ready to go? Earplugs, sun cream, and a light rain jacket are must-haves – the British weather can change in a flash. Bringing your own alcohol isn’t allowed. Want to skip the packing stress? Our Premium Fan Packages come with everything you need for race day, including earplugs, a rain jacket, a cap & more.
Travelling via London? Stop by the F1 Arcade UK for premium simulators, cocktails, and public viewing in a stylish setting.
Action & downtime around Silverstone
There’s loads to explore in and around Silverstone, both on and off the circuit.
Feel like racing yourself? Head to TeamSport Indoor Karting in Milton Keynes and take on the track in mini-format. Escape Hunt Oxford is great for groups looking for a challenge, offering fast-paced escape room adventures. And if you're after that classic British vibe, check out The White Horse in Silverstone Village – a go-to pub for racing fans.
Nearby towns like Buckingham and Towcester serve up local charm with bustling high streets, small shops, pubs, and tea rooms. Fancy a green getaway? Take a stroll through Stowe Gardens – classical English landscaping, peaceful paths, and, of course, a proper afternoon tea.
Discover Birmingham: food, drinks & nightlife
Staying in Birmingham? It’s not just close to the circuit – the city’s food scene and nightlife are a win for motorsport fans.
Top food spots:
- Opheem: Michelin-starred Indian fusion
- The Wilderness: modern British fine dining
- The Indian Streatery: laid-back, authentic street food
After dinner, enjoy skyline views and cocktails at The Botanist rooftop bar. If live music and craft beer are more your vibe, head to The Button Factory. Broad Street is Birmingham’s go-to nightlife strip with dozens of bars and clubs – perfect for celebrating after the race.
Silverstone: where F1 history was made
Silverstone isn’t just a circuit – it’s where the very first Formula 1 World Championship race took place in 1950. At the Silverstone Museum, you can explore F1 history with interactive exhibits, iconic cars, and behind-the-scenes insights.
The area is also home to many F1 teams, including Mercedes, Red Bull, and Aston Martin. While factory tours are usually VIP-only, just being near the heart of F1 adds a special vibe to the race weekend.

Directions & parking tips
The Silverstone Circuit is located in the countryside, about 20 km from Northampton and Milton Keynes. It’s one of the best-connected tracks on the Formula 1 calendar – but with over 480,000 fans attending across the weekend, good planning is a must. Here’s how to get there stress-free, whether you’re flying, taking the train or driving.
Closest airports to the track
If you're travelling internationally or from further afield, these airports are your best bet:
- London Luton (LTN) – around 1 hour by car to the circuit
- Birmingham (BHX) – also about 1 hour’s drive, great for UK & EU flights
- London Heathrow (LHR) – around 1.5 hours, ideal for long-haul arrivals
Once you land, you can either hire a car or take the train to a nearby station and hop on a shuttle to the track.
How to get to the circuit by train or shuttle bus
There’s no direct train to Silverstone Circuit, but it’s easy to get close and switch to one of the official event shuttles.
From London – via Milton Keynes Central:
- Fast trains from London Euston to Milton Keynes Central (~35–60 mins, depending on the service)
- Then take the X91 Stagecoach Shuttle to Silverstone (~60 mins)
-
The shuttle drops you just a short walk from the entrance
From Birmingham – via Northampton:
- Train from Birmingham New Street to Northampton (~1 hour)
-
Then hop on the Stagecoach 88 or the official event shuttle (~60 mins)
Tip: Shuttles usually run on Saturday & Sunday and follow the F1 schedule. Buses can get packed during peak times – especially on Sunday morning and after the race.
Driving to F1 Silverstone – what you need to know
Driving gives you flexibility, but allow extra time, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
Coming from the North?
Expect around 1 hour from Birmingham via the M1 and A43 – a pretty direct route outside peak traffic.
Heading in from the South?
From central London, it’s about 1.5 to 2 hours via the M40 and A43 straight to the track.
Address for navigation: Silverstone Circuit, Towcester, NN12 8TN – or just use Google Maps.
Where to park?
You’ll find parking right at the circuit and at nearby Park & Ride sites. Important: All parking must be pre-booked – there are no on-the-day sales.
During the event weekend (Friday–Sunday), temporary one-way systems and road closures are in place, especially on Dadford Road and the A43. Just follow the signs – they’re there to help you avoid the traffic jams.
